Dave Volker Obituary, Wetaskiwin, AB Cowboy Died at 45, Funeral on April 17, 2025

Dave Volker, a deeply loved husband, father, and friend from Wetaskiwin, Alberta, passed away on April 5, 2025, at the age of 45. His sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of many across the community and beyond. Known for his quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to his family, Dave embodied the heart of Alberta—hardworking, humble, and kind.

Born on January 8, 1980, in Thorsby, Dave carried the values of small-town life with him everywhere he went. He attended Stettler Wm. E. Hay Composite High School and went on to build a life rooted in self-reliance and connection to others. As a self-employed man, Dave took pride in every job he tackled. Whether working the land, fixing something with his hands, or helping a neighbor without being asked, he always showed up with integrity and purpose.

Dave built a beautiful life with his wife, Amy Johanson-Volker, and their two sons, Wyatt and Westyn. He was more than a provider—he was their rock, their joy, and their guiding light. To know Dave was to feel supported, whether through his quiet wisdom or his calming presence.

In a heartfelt tribute, Amy shared that while their cowboy has now ridden on, his memory remains ever present, wrapped in the love they shared and the strength of the community that has surrounded them in the days since. “When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure,” she wrote—a simple but powerful reminder of how deeply Dave touched those around him.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Lakedell Agricultural Society Arena. All who knew Dave are welcome to attend and honor a life that meant so much to so many.

Though no longer physically present, Dave’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he shaped—through laughter, guidance, quiet help, and the kind of love that doesn’t need words. His family extends their heartfelt thanks to everyone who has reached out with love and support. Dave may be gone, but the mark he left on this world will never fade.
