Marilyn Baron Obituary, Edmonton AB Resident & Art Lover has Died, April 17, 2025

Marilyn Baron Death: The Edmonton community is mourning the loss of a truly remarkable woman, Marilyn Baron, who passed away on April 17, 2025. A lifelong Edmonton resident, Marilyn’s life was filled with compassion, service, and love—a quiet force whose presence left lasting impressions in every space she entered.

Those who knew Marilyn knew her heart. She was deeply committed to her city, often rolling up her sleeves to support local charities, lend a hand to educational initiatives, or simply volunteer her time to uplift those around her. Whether it was championing a youth program or supporting a cultural event, Marilyn gave generously—not for recognition, but because she believed in the power of community.

Her passion for the arts spoke volumes about her spirit. She was a devoted supporter of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and a familiar face at the Art Gallery of Alberta. For Marilyn, art wasn’t just a pastime—it was a way of nurturing creativity and connection across generations.

Professionally, Marilyn was equally respected. She held several leadership roles in non-profit organizations, where her integrity and wisdom shaped both missions and people. Coworkers often described her as someone who led by example—kind, firm when needed, and always ready to listen. To many, she was more than a colleague—she was a mentor, a guide, and a trusted friend.

But beyond all her contributions, Marilyn’s proudest role was that of a wife, mother, and grandmother. Family meant everything to her. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Robert Baron; her children, Jennifer Thompson and her husband Michael, and David Baron and his wife Laura; and her three grandchildren, Emily, Nathan, and Sophie, who brought light to her life and joy to her days. Her love for them was the kind that shaped values, built traditions, and filled homes with warmth.

A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held on April 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Glenwood Funeral Home in Sherwood Park. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Edmonton Community Foundation—an organization whose mission reflects the very essence of what Marilyn stood for.

Though she has passed, Marilyn Baron’s spirit will continue to echo in the lives she touched, the community she nurtured, and the family she loved so dearly. She was a quiet pillar of strength and grace, and her memory will remain a guiding light for all who were lucky enough to know her.
